Until today only 2 other countries had won 13 gold medals at the winter Olympics, the only other countries to win 13 gold in a Winter Olympic Games were the Soviet Union in 1976 (Innsbruck, Austria) and Norway in 2002 (Salt Lake City, Utah). Today, Canada became the third. If Canada beats the USA in ice hockey or another athlete from Canada wins a Gold Medal, a new winter Olympic record for Gold Medals will be set.  13 gold medals is also a new record for a host nation, This has Canada ahead of the previous record of 10 Gold Medals by a host nation that was held by the United States (2002 Salt Lake City, Utah)  and Norway (1994 Lillehammer).

These Vancouver Olympic Games that had a slow start for Canada, but it started to gain momentum in the second week of the game. Canada gained even more momentum on day 16, when it had its first three Gold Medal day in Canada’s Winter Games history.

The most dramatic was Jasey-Jay Anderson staged a dramatic comeback in the second leg of the Parallel Giant Slalom snowboarding event to win his first Olympic Gold Medal. Only minutes before his last run, the men’s long-track speed skating team of Lucas Makowsky, Denny Morrison, and Mathieu Giroux had just beaten the United States at the Richmond Oval.  Later on in the day Kevin Martin’s rink took on and eventually beat Norway 6 to 3 in the men’s curling final.

The predictions are varied for the final over all medal count for Canada. Many are predicting that Canada will end the games with 26 to 27 medals. Canada’s one bronze medal of the day in the four man bobsleigh event brought the total medal count to 25, this has helped to get Canada past its previous total medal win record of 24, set at the 2006 games in Turin Italy.

The most interesting fact that this blogger has learned about the medals that are being won at these games, is about the medals themselves. It seems that every medal awarded at the games is made from recycled e-waste. E-waste (short for electronic waste) is the medals that is taken out of old computers and electronics after they are no longer useful as electronics.

Telsec is committed to being not only a green friendly office space Toronto, but they also strongly believe in programs that will help re-use parts and materials that are a product of old computers. When Telsec has Toronto office space equipment that is no longer functioning or becomes obsolete, they do not sent their hardware to a landfill, but send it to companies who will recycle as much of that old equipment as possible. The companies, who recycle old computers, remove the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals from those computers. When Telsec’s office space Toronto client’s watches the Olympic medal ceremonies, they can proudly wonder if any of their old computers are in those medals.

Canada’s Olympians may not have owned the podium, but they are now leading in terms of most Gold Medals at the Vancouver Olympic Games.

Canada’s men’s short track speed skating team finally ended their medal drought, they secured two Gold Medals and a Bronze Medal to put Canada third in the medal race and first in terms of most Gold Medals.

Charles Hamelin picked up the men’s short track Gold Medal, finishing first in the 500 metre skate. His teammate François-Louis Tremblay earned the Bronze Medal in the same 500 metre event.

Then less than an hour later in the men’s 5000 metre relay . Charles Hamelin and François-Louis Tremblay along with teammates François Hamelin, Olivier Jean and Guillaume Bastille, again reached for the top of the podium, winning the Gold Medal in the men’s 5000 metre relay.

Canada’s women’s curling team took a very close Silver Medal against the Swedish women. It took an extra end to decide the winner. Throughout the competition the Canadian women trounced their competition.

With the Canada 1 men’s bobsled in second place after the first day and Canada’s men’s hockey team advancing to the Gold Medal game against team USA, there are still chances for Canada to win more medals at these Vancouver Olympic Games.

While the own the podium campaign and funding did not live up to its full expectations, it really has helped Canadian athletes to get more Gold Medals than any other team at these Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. This is similar to the Gold Medal effort that the Telsec support staff gives their clients every day. Other office space Toronto locations claim to offer Toronto serviced offices, but do not deliver on the quality of service that the professional staff at Telsec continually give to their Toronto office space for rent client’s.

Another Gold medal for Canada’s women’s ice hockey team, they defeated a very tough USA women’s team 2 to 0, to take their third straight Olympic Gold medal. What made this Gold Medal sweeter was to take this one on home ice in front of not only a hometown crowd and the Prime Minister, but the greatest player who ever played the game who was seated next to Stephen Harper, Wayne Gretzky.

While it was widely publicized that the team had spent weeks leading up to the Vancouver Olympic Games playing practice games against boys midget hockey teams . Thanks to an innovative strategy by Alberta Minor Hockey League, the boys teams’ games against the Canadian women even counted in the league standings, giving these teenagers more motivation for pushing the women’s team to improve.

What many people did not know about was “Operation Aquarium”. It seems that in a covert move, they arranged two more practice games against Major Midget League teams, this time in secret. They let everyone believe they were taking a team activity to the Vancouver Aquarium, meanwhile they were off to play the Vancouver North West Giants of the B.C. Major Midget League at the Burnaby Winter Club. These games were played before family and friends and kept secret, even the opponents were asked to not talk about the games until after the medals were won.

One of the other amazing Bronze Medal stories is Joannie Rochette. Only four days after her mother unexpectedly died following a heart attack and a heart-wrenching short program with a gutsy free skate won Olympic Bronze for her near-flawless skating. In the hearts of Canadian Joannie’s efforts were a Gold Medal effort.

While the Canadian women’s hockey team had “Operation Aquarium”, your Canadian small business can have “Operation Telsec”. Your company can have a virtual office Toronto with a prestigious business address, while operating your business from wherever you like.

With a Toronto mail service or a Toronto telephone answering service and mail service, your company can give a professional business image to your clients without the cost of a physical office space Toronto. With a telephone answering service Toronto plan, your calls are answered by a professional receptionist who handles your calls to your instructions. You could be working from your home, on the road or even at your cottage, your calls can be answered by your receptionist and transferred to wherever you chose.

As your company grows and you need physical Toronto office space or even Toronto shared office space, Telsec can help you upgrade without having to change your telephone number or your prestigious business address.

One of the big benefits of being a shared office Toronto client or a office space Toronto client is that you have access to meeting rooms and boardrooms absolutely free. Even Toronto virtual office clients have access to meeting rooms and boardrooms at a very nominal fee.

Canada has won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at these Vancouver Olympic Games, but the sweetest medal came in the form of a Bronze. Clara Hughes took Bronze in the women’s 5000 metre long track speed skating today, what makes it sweet is this medal is the sixth of her career, putting her in a tie with Klassen as Canada’s most decorated Olympian. The other title that Hughes holds is that she is the only  athlete in history to win multiple medals in Winter and Summer Olympics games. This was her last ice race and she was happy to earned a spot on the podium.

Canada has won Gold and Silver in Women’s bobsledding. Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse dominated the Whistler sliding track and took the gold and Helen Upperton and Shelley-Ann Brown picked up the silver medal in the Canada 2 sled. This is also the first time in Olympic history that Canada has won a medal in Women’s bobsledding, so to capture both Gold and Silver is also the first time at the Vancouver games that Canada has won two medals in the same event. This Gold medal now has Canada tied with the USA and Germany with 7 Gold Medals at these games.

Jessica Gregg, Kalyna Roberge, Marianne St-Gelais and Tania Vicent took the silver medal in the women’s 3,000 metre relay. The Canadian women’s short-track relay team made it six medals in six Olympic appearances since short-track was introduced.

The other big news of the day was that the Canadian men’s ice hockey team beat the Russian team 7 to 3. This was just the second Olympic hockey meeting between the two long-time international rivals. In their last Olympic meeting Russia defeated the Canadians 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the 2006 Turin Winter Games and eliminated Canada from the tournament, so it was fitting that in this Olympic meeting, Canada eliminated the Russians.

CTV Olympics anchor Brian Williams referred to today as Women’s Wednesday, as all of the medals that Canada won today were by women athletes. There are large number of women entrepreneurs in Toronto and many chose to have Toronto executive offices at Telsec. Many  of these women started their business at home and eventually moved into office space Toronto to continue the growth of their business. Not having to worry about managing an office and not having to purchase office equipment has allowed them to concentrate on building their business.  Many of the Toronto women  entrepreneurs who have either Toronto office space or Toronto executive office space at Telsec, have had their Telsec office space for more than 5 years, some as long as 20 years.

While most of Canada is watching the qualifying hockey game between Canada and Germany in Ice Hockey, Canada has already gained another gold medal and another Olympic first. Canada’s women skiers have won the Gold Medal in women’s Ski Cross. Canadian racer Ashleigh McIvor has won the Olympic gold medal in ski cross at Cypress Mountain. This is the first time Ski Cross has been an Olympic event and Ashleigh McIvor has taken gold.

Canada may not be owning the podium in these Olympic games as they were promoted to be doing, but they have made many firsts. The first Gold by Canada at a Canadian Olympics, the youngest and first North American team to win Olympic Ice Dancing Gold Medal and now the First ever to win women’s Ski Cross at the Olympic games.

Team Canada is not the only number one  team in Canada. The number one team in office space Toronto is Telsec. The Telsec team that is located at the number one address at Toronto’s number one address, 1 Yonge street, is the team that supports the best businesses in Canada. Being located at One Yonge Street, tells their competitors that they have a professional office space location that is located at an important and prestigious Toronto address.

When you locate your business at Canada’ number one address of One Yonge Street, you are telling your competition that you are serious about doing business.

At the time of this post, Canada’s, Men’s Hockey team had just beat Germany by 8 to 2 and is now expected to continue on to their gold medal quest against the Russians and onto face Team USA for the Gold Medal. Personally, I believe that this extra game has helped to make the Canadian team more of a team, rather than a collection of super stars.

Again, companies who chose to have office space Toronto are superstars in their own abilities. They have chosen a Toronto office space that will help their business to be on the podium.

Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir have won the gold medal in Ice Dancing. Not only have they won another Gold Medal for Canada, they made Olympic history, they are the first North American team to win the Olympic Ice Dancing Championship. They went into tonight’s Free Skate with a 2.6 point lead, but there are their American training partners and a strong Russian team that were expected to give them them a good run.

While I am not a fan of cross country skiing, I read today that Canadian Bill McKeever will make Olympic history by being the first winter athlete ever named to both Olympic and Paralympic teams. McKeever has only 10 % vision and that is not a challenge for him in competing with fully sighted skiers in the 50km race. His ability to compete with his vision impairment may even help him over other athletes in blinding snow conditions.

Canada’s Women’s ice hockey team has just defeated the Swedish team 5-0. They will play the USA on Thursday for the Gold Medal in Women’s Ice Hockey. Canada is favoured to win that game as well.

One predominate feature of these Vancouver Olympic Games has been the effort to stage some of the greenest Games ever, thanks to a partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Low-flow toilets that use rainwater for flushing, separate bins for compostable waste and energy-efficient grass-clad roofs are some of the environmentally-friendly features on display at Olympic sites in and around Vancouver. Even the transportation of people around the games is greener. There are twenty hydrogen fuel cell buses that are being operated by BC Transit in Whistler.

Telsec Toronto office space for rent is also concerned about being green, their green friendly building has been retrofitted to take steps that conserve on energy and reduce dependence on valuable resources such as electricity and water. Telsec’s eco friendly offices took further steps to reduce energy consumption by optimizing their lighting usage with a computerized system that detects when lights are not needed and shuts them off to conserve even more energy. If your company is looking for office space Toronto in a green friendly building, then look no further than www.telsec.net.

Today was being promoted as Super Sunday It was Super for athletes in other sports, but not for Canada’s hockey team.  Canada vs USA was the big hype of the day, all of the TV commentators were predicting a win by Canada and the advance to the semi finals, but someone forgot to tell the team USA, who beat Team Canada 5 to 3.  Canada now has an extra game to play on Tuesday against Germany.   One positive hockey story was that the Canadian soldiers trounced the American soldiers 16 to 2 at what was called Hockey Night in Kandahar.

The good news of the day was that Canada’s Kristina Groves won her second medal of these Vancouver Olympic Games, capturing silver in the ladies 1,500 metres long track speed skating race. She won bronze in the 3,000-metre race earlier in the week and narrowly missed the podium in the 1,000 metres.

The other big story of the day was Canadian ice dancers Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir who are no longer in third, they are now leading in points after tonight’s original dance. They are now really strong going into the Free Dance on Monday, which is one of their strongest abilities.

Knowing your strengths as an athlete is very important, the same can be said in business. Many businesses who chose to have their office space Toronto at Telsec, know that their strength is building their business. These businesses allow Telsec’s professional team to take care of running the office and allow them to concentrate on conducting and building their business.

With Telsec’s Toronto office space for lease, companies do not have to worry about the office equipment like telephone systems and photocopiers. They do not need to think about whether the toner on the printer is running low or if there is coffee ready when their client arrives, these are just a few of the things that the dedicated support staff at Telsec takes care of.

Long before the opening of the 2010 Vancouver Olympic games, millions of dollars were spent by the Canadian government and private companies to have Canadian medal wins top any others at these Olympic games on Canadian soil.

Canada did not capture any medals on day 9, there are still several days left to compete and show the world that Canada has world class athletes. Besides hockey, there are events that Canadian athletes are expected to win medals.

Even with no medals being won by Canadians today, Vancouver and Whistler are still buzzing with excitement by the competitions.

While the reception is closed for the weekend at Telsec, our Toronto office space is not closed. When you open an office space Toronto at Telsec, you have 24 hour access to your office. Yes, even if you want to come into your office at any time to work like this blogger, you can come into your office to work when you want.

Canada has won Gold in Vancouver, 2 Gold Medals on Cypress Mountain and now Canada has finally won Gold in Whistler. Tonight Canada’s Jon Montgomery took gold in men’s skeleton at the Whistler sliding centre. This means that Canada has now Captured Gold at all three venue locations.

Canadian ice dancers Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir are  just over one point back from first-place Russians Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin after the compulsory dance. The ice dance competition continues Sunday with the original dance and wrap up Monday with the free dance, Virtue and Moir are expected to make the podium.

The non Olympic sport story of the day was that Tiger Woods publicly apologized for repeatedly cheating on his wife. He did say that while he intends to return to professional golf, he did not say when that would be.  Woods also mentioned that he had undergone 45 days of therapy since the revelations of sexual affairs. This does put to rest the rumours of him hiding in places everywhere from Arizona to South Africa and even that Tiger was holed up somewhere in Toronto and had a Telephone and Mail Message Service at Telsec Business Office Centres.

When your company needs a Toronto virtual office to give you a prestigious address and a professional receptionist answering your Telephone calls, Telsec has one of the most well known addresses and some of the best prices for Toronto mail service and Telephone answering service Toronto. When your company grows and you need a physical office, Telsec can offer you office space Toronto, without having to change your address or your telephone number.

So far the Canadian men’s speed skaters have not been able to reach the podium, but the Canadian women have.  Today Christine Nesbitt captured Gold in the women’s 1000m speed skating and Kristina Groves captured Bronze in the women’s 3000m. Neither of these medal wins should not overshadow the 5th place finish in the women’s 3000m by Clara Hughes who took gold in the women’s 5000m at the 2006 games in Turin.  With the 5000m race still to come, Clara Hughes could still be standing on the podium for Canada once again.

Meanwhile, most of the country is still focused on Canada’s Mens Ice Hockey team and their 3 to 2 shootout win tonight over Switzerland. A close game like this will definitely be a wake up call to Team Canada, as some of the harder teams are yet to be faced.

For the most part Canadian athletes at the 2009 Vancouver Olympic Games compete in individual sports, but stand together as a team. Even within the same sports, these athletes train and work towards their goals as individuals. The same can be said of many entrepreneurs, they work together with their clients and suppliers to achieve their goals.

Unlike the athletes who are competing on the world stage that receive endorsements and have a team of support staff to help them reach their training and competitive goals, many entrepreneurs who are trying to compete on the world’s stage of business are faced with the battle of finding a team to work with.

Telsec’s Toronto office space for rent, not only offers entrepreneurs a place to grow their business, but also offers access to professional office equipment that they would not have available to them in most other offices that are suited to entrepreneurs. The other Telsec advantage is that clients have access to on site professional office services and a network of business support companies (many who are also Telsec clients).

When your company is looking to have professional office services in an affordable Toronto office space, look no further than Telsec.
