• Charlie Sheen before his walk in Toronto

Charlie Sheen Takes a Walk in Toronto

It began on Friday when I was told about Charlie Sheens tweets, it seems that he was tweeting about walking from his hotel (The Ritz Carlton, Toronto) to his show venue Massey Hall to raise awareness for Bi Polar disorders. I decided to get my camera ready and head down early to get a good spot in front of the hotel. I decided to wear cargo shorts and a bowling shirt inspired by Charlie’s character on “Two and half Men”, but that was my mistake.

Charlie did not emerge from the Ritz Carlton hotel until just before 7 PM, almost an hour after his walk was scheduled to begin. When he came out, he surveyed the crowd from under the hotel awning and headed over to a waiting SUV. Instead of getting into the SUV, he got up on the hood of the truck to talk to the crowd. Immediately, the TV news crews pushed their way past the fans so they could get their shots. Polite Canadian fans did not resist the pushing and shoving out of the way by TV camera crews.  At one point when Charlie got off the hood of the SUV and started walking, the camera crews would not give him a chance to walk and almost ended the walk. Charlie’s private security detail and police were finally able to get the TV cameras to move and let him walk, but not before the fans started chanting “Let Him Walk”.

As he proceeded along Wellington to University Avenue, the only people who seemed to be able to get close to Charlie were the pushy camera crews. A few openings for fans to banter back and forth with Charlie came as he was walking up University towards Queen Street, I myself was able to slip a few words into Charlie and he replied back. All along the route police with bicycles were forcing people to stay on the sidewalk, which caused more congestion on the small sidewalks of Toronto. I would have hated to be someone coming in the opposite direction.

When the walk finally ended at Massey Hall, Charlie climbed the fire escape of the famous Toronto landmark and tried to talk to those who had gathered. Since he did not have a sound system or a microphone, Charlie had to rely on the crowd quieting down so they could hear him. In good Canadian manor, the crowd did stop their shouts and chants to let Charlie speak. I was able to shoot video of both his speech in front of the Ritz Carlton and at Massey Hall after the walk.

It was an epic walk that my girlfriend said was more exciting than the tourist bus fire she witnessed across the road from my office space Toronto at the Toronto Star Building, where she too now works.

Saturday night was also all about Charlie Sheen, as a friend had a Charlie Sheen party. He re-arranged his photo studio to feel like a hotel room where Charlie would entertain. People were encouraged to dress as their favorite “Two and a Half Men” characters. He even hid a watch and invited everyone to search for it so that they could win a pair of tickets to an even he is holding in May.  The party was a great success and everyone left happy they had attended.

Sunday morning my girlfriend and I decided to go for brunch. I was still quite tired, so I just put back on the Charlie Sheen inspired bowling shirt that I had worn Saturday night. When we sat down at the local Golden Griddle and I took my jacket off, the hostess made a joke that I looked like Charlie… only thing is, I am shaved bald and Charlie has a full head of hair.

Tonight we are going to a dinner party that has nothing to do with Charlie Sheen, but it is an inspired theme, The Anglo-Saxon goddess Eostre is really pure invention, a story told by “scholars” to explain the origins of Easter.

With so much going on this weekend, I am thinking that I will want to sleep in on Monday and not go into my downtown Toronto office space. This is an easy decision to make because I know that I can call the receptionist at my executive suites Toronto in the morning and have her forward my calls to my cell phone instead of my Toronto executive offices.

  • With the weather we have been experiencing over the past few days, I am beginning to believe that we cannot put our trust in groundhogs. This year neither Wiarton Willie nor his American cousin Punxsutawney Phil saw their shadows this year, meaning that spring weather was to come sooner.

According to legend of Groundhog Day, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on February 2nd and does not see it’s Shadow, than we are in for an early spring. If the groundhog sees its shadow it will retreat back into its burrow, and the winter weather will continue for six more weeks.

For the past few years I have used the Toronto International Bicycle Show as my barometer to the fact that spring is right around the corner. It is not the size of the crowds that I use to measure how close spring is (the Bicycle Show always gets great crowds), but instead I count the number of people who arrive on their bikes and park them out front of the Better Living Centre at Exhibition Place. If the bike racks are full, spring is only days away. If they are not too full, then spring is a few more weeks away.

The Toronto International Bicycle Show’s Toronto executive offices are located just down the hall from my Toronto office space. I have often seen the show manager Carl booking a boardroom in the weeks that lead up to the bike show. On Friday, I saw Carl in the kitchen of my office space Toronto getting a coffee and we had a short chat. As we were talking, he offered me a few complimentary passes to attend the show. I was thankful and told him that I would take some photos for him and would be happy to send him copies.

The greatest part of having my downtown Toronto office space at Telsec has been the networking opportunities that have come my way when meeting other office space clients.

  • If you are having problems reaching the Bell Canada call centre in Scarborough today, blame Lotto Max.  Friday’s Lotto Max drawing for 50 million dollars was won with one ticket, that was jointly held by 19 Bell Canada call centre employees. Each of the wining ticket holders will take home about 2.4 million dollars each.  This is enough money for each of these workers to leave their jobs and take early retirement.

In some workplaces throughout North America, group lottery purchases have been banned by employers out of fears of losing an entire group of staff. Some companies have been left high and dry by a group of employees winning a lottery and quiting their jobs. Most recently 4 employees at Lethbridge Iron Works won a 16 million dollar 649 draw and decided not to return to work, this left the company scrambling to replace these 4 key workers. Another company in the USA lost 10 employees when they won a power ball lotto, the company had production problems for several weeks until they could hire and train new employees.

The upside to a large group of workers winning a lottery is that there may be some job openings at their company for those who want those jobs. This will have a ripple effect. When 19 high paid jobs are replaced with 19 new employees, 19 other jobs will also be opened in other companies. These jobs will go to people who have been looking for work during this economic downturn .

I have heard rumblings of office lotto pools at my downtown Toronto office space, but I have yet been invited to join the lotto pool. Unlike a group of employees winning the lottery, if a group of entrepreneurs win the jackpot, most would pay off their mortgages and re-invest in their businesses. The guy who has the shared office space would probably upgrade to a Toronto private offices package or Toronto Executive offices with a window. Personally if I won the lotto, I would keep my current office space at Telsec and sign up for an additional New York City office space, so I could book more photo shoots in New York City

  • Canada has won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at these Vancouver Olympic Games, but the sweetest medal came in the form of a Bronze. Clara Hughes took Bronze in the women’s 5000 metre long track speed skating today, what makes it sweet is this medal is the sixth of her career, putting her in a tie with Klassen as Canada’s most decorated Olympian. The other title that Hughes holds is that she is the only  athlete in history to win multiple medals in Winter and Summer Olympics games. This was her last ice race and she was happy to earned a spot on the podium.

Canada has won Gold and Silver in Women’s bobsledding. Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse dominated the Whistler sliding track and took the gold and Helen Upperton and Shelley-Ann Brown picked up the silver medal in the Canada 2 sled. This is also the first time in Olympic history that Canada has won a medal in Women’s bobsledding, so to capture both Gold and Silver is also the first time at the Vancouver games that Canada has won two medals in the same event. This Gold medal now has Canada tied with the USA and Germany with 7 Gold Medals at these games.

Jessica Gregg, Kalyna Roberge, Marianne St-Gelais and Tania Vicent took the silver medal in the women’s 3,000 metre relay. The Canadian women’s short-track relay team made it six medals in six Olympic appearances since short-track was introduced.

The other big news of the day was that the Canadian men’s ice hockey team beat the Russian team 7 to 3. This was just the second Olympic hockey meeting between the two long-time international rivals. In their last Olympic meeting Russia defeated the Canadians 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the 2006 Turin Winter Games and eliminated Canada from the tournament, so it was fitting that in this Olympic meeting, Canada eliminated the Russians.

CTV Olympics anchor Brian Williams referred to today as Women’s Wednesday, as all of the medals that Canada won today were by women athletes. There are large number of women entrepreneurs in Toronto and many chose to have Toronto executive offices at Telsec. Many  of these women started their business at home and eventually moved into office space Toronto to continue the growth of their business. Not having to worry about managing an office and not having to purchase office equipment has allowed them to concentrate on building their business.  Many of the Toronto women  entrepreneurs who have either Toronto office space or Toronto executive office space at Telsec, have had their Telsec office space for more than 5 years, some as long as 20 years.

  • Toronto executive office spaceNew Year’s Eve I was out at an event and got to meet some really great people.  One of the people I met told me that they have been looking for a well priced Toronto executive office that had windows with a view.

As the regional sales manager for a US based company, he wanted a prestigious address and a well appointed office space. but he did not want an office space in Toronto that he had to spend tons of money on in terms of equipment or office furnishings.  He had looked at other Toronto office spaces, most were stand alone offices that did not have any amenities. Others that offered amenities were well beyond his budget and he still did not have a decent view.

I quietly chuckled and told him I know just the place, the place I have my office at Telsec. The only well priced office solutions in Toronto that had lake views and city views to choose from. While Telsec offers Toronto office space that is ideal for most small and medium businesses, they also have some amazing executive office space Toronto.

I knew these executive office spaces were very popular, especially the ones with a lake view. I told him to call Josie at (416) 363-9035 to see what space she had available.

The last thing I had to say to him was … At Telsec the coffee and tea are always complimentary.

At that his eyes perked up and he was really impressed by the Toronto executive office space that I had told him about.

  • All the buzz the past few days around the water cooler was the fact that NASA had found water on the moon. This scientific breakthrough does not mean that you will be seeing bottles of Moon Water showing up at a variety store near you any time soon. This news does tell us that at some point the moon could have sustained life or may eventually be colonized. When will the first Telsec office space on the moon be available, I can not say.

While Telsec can not yet offer office space on the moon yet, they can offer a great office in downtown Toronto. No, they do not have moon water yet, but they do have cold filtered water available in both kitchens. It may be a number of years until Telsec can offer moon offices with a view of the earth, I can tell you that some clear sky evenings when I am working late at my Telsec Toronto office space, I can look out my window and get a great view of the moon.

Downtown Toronto office space at Telsec offers city views and lake views. When the sun is barely down and you can see the moon rising over Lake Ontario, the view is spectacular. Nowhere else in the city can you find such well appointed offices at a prestigious address like 1 Yonge Street, the most famous address on Canada’s most known street.  Consider having your office space Toronto on the 18th floor of the number one address on the world’s longest street.

Telsec Toronto office space for rent has an office package that not only suits your need for office space, but offers the amenities you would expect from an Toronto executive offices.

And remember, at Telsec Toronto office space, the coffee and tea are always complimentary.
