• Over the past few days there were lots of things in the news to talk about over the water cooler in the kitchen at the executive suites Toronto where I have my Toronto office space. You would expect people to be talking about the fact that Bin Laden is dead, the election results or the flooding caused by the Mississippi river, but instead everyone was talking about replicas of Royal Wedding dress are already being created.

Just three days after Kate Middleton’s fairy-tale wedding to Prince William, replicas of her Alexander McQueen gown that was designed by Sarah Burton were already being showcased. It seems that one such designer Shala Moradi, who is the director of design for Faviana, a New York-based eveningwear company has had her team working around the clock to make a dress as close as possible as the original dress worn by Kate Middleton. Moradi claims that she has made some tweaks to the dress to make it more mass market friendly.

The other topic of conversation at my office space Toronto was the worst dressed lady at the Royal Wedding. It seems that it was a close battle between Prince William’s cousin, Princess Eugenie’s bright blue Vivienne Westwood dress with a Philip Treacy hat and Prince Harry’s girlfriend, Chelsy Davy’s seafoam green Alberta Ferretti dress with matching jacket, Jimmy Choo heels and Victoria Grant hat. Hands down the winner for worst dressed lady at the Royal Wedding was Chelsy Davy.

  • It was not just any Friday morning at my downtown Toronto office space, it was Royal Wedding day. People got to the office early to watch the royal wedding live on TV and over the Internet. Some people took it to a different level by dressing up and wearing funny hats.

When I arrived at the Toronto Star Building early this morning, I decided to first go to the cafeteria to see what breakfast special they were offering for the Royal Wedding. I was sadly disappointed that they were not offering bangers and mash until lunch time. I grabbed an English muffin from Tim Horton’s and went up to my office space Toronto for a complimentary coffee. Before leaving the cafeteria, I noticed that there were a group of women watching the Royal Wedding on TV wearing funny hats like so many of the women who were actually attending the wedding at Westminster Abbey.

Once upstairs in the Telsec executive suites Toronto, I headed for the kitchen to get a cup of my favourite and free coffee (hazelnut). The door to the boardroom just outside of the kitchen was open and there was 5 or 6 people sitting around a laptop watching the Royal Wedding and drinking their complimentary Tea along with enjoying some crumpets and jam purchased from the Kitchen Table across the road.

Throughout the morning, people were sending me links to photos of their own tea parties in honour of the Royal Wedding. One friend in Edmonton convinced a bunch of her friends to have a tea party with formal dresses and white gloves starting before midnight last night. The hilarious photos came from friends and family members who put tiaras on their pets and sent out the photos.

When lunchtime arrived, I figured I would go down to the cafeteria on the fourth floor and grab some lunch to bring back up to my office. Today’s menu consisted of items inspired by the Royal Wedding. First on the menu was the Royal Fish and Chips (which I could not figure out what made them Royal, did the Queen make them). There was Kate’s Bubble and Squeek with a whole egg baked into the top. I choose the Royal fish and chips and took them back up to my Toronto office space.

Evan as I drove home, they were talking on the radio about the all night after party going on at Buckingham Palace and that the Queen had opted out of the party in favour of a quiet night at Windsor Castle.

  • The good weather is here and people are dressing in more colourful and bright clothing. A walk along Queen’s Quay is just as colourful as walking along Queen Street East. As I walked around Harbourfront at lunch Thursday, I noticed several people not wearing jackets. As I walked, I too felt that I should have left my jacket back at my downtown Toronto office space.

Today while most of my friends are enjoying the first day of the long weekend, I was working at the executive suites Toronto where I have my office for rent Toronto. As I looked out the office window of the 18th floor of the Toronto Star building, I noticed that there were a lot of people walking and riding bicycles along the harbour. I convinced myself that taking a thirty  minute break would be ok.

Since the cafeteria was closed for the Easter Weekend, I walked over to the Harbourfront Centre to get some chip wagon chips. I decided to take them back to my office space Toronto and eat them at my desk. As I walked through the lobby of the building the security guard mentioned he could smell the French fries and sausage as soon as I walked through the door. The Italian sausage I could understand him smelling, but the French fries? He said he could smell the malt vinegar I had on them. I told him that I may be stopping into the office on Saturday to finish some stuff up, so I would go the chip wagon before I came in and get him some fries too.

Saturday should prove to be very busy down along Queens Quay, so I will probably have to park my car at my Toronto office space and walk over to the chip wagon again.

Sunday is the only day that I will get to relax and enjoy the weekend, but I am not sure how relaxing finding parking and fighting the crowds along Queen Street East for the Beach Easter Parade. I promised I would take my girlfriend to the parade, as she had never been to this parade before. I think we will head down early and find a seat on a raised patio and enjoy brunch as the parade marches by.

  • Charlie Sheen before his walk in Toronto

Charlie Sheen Takes a Walk in Toronto

It began on Friday when I was told about Charlie Sheens tweets, it seems that he was tweeting about walking from his hotel (The Ritz Carlton, Toronto) to his show venue Massey Hall to raise awareness for Bi Polar disorders. I decided to get my camera ready and head down early to get a good spot in front of the hotel. I decided to wear cargo shorts and a bowling shirt inspired by Charlie’s character on “Two and half Men”, but that was my mistake.

Charlie did not emerge from the Ritz Carlton hotel until just before 7 PM, almost an hour after his walk was scheduled to begin. When he came out, he surveyed the crowd from under the hotel awning and headed over to a waiting SUV. Instead of getting into the SUV, he got up on the hood of the truck to talk to the crowd. Immediately, the TV news crews pushed their way past the fans so they could get their shots. Polite Canadian fans did not resist the pushing and shoving out of the way by TV camera crews.  At one point when Charlie got off the hood of the SUV and started walking, the camera crews would not give him a chance to walk and almost ended the walk. Charlie’s private security detail and police were finally able to get the TV cameras to move and let him walk, but not before the fans started chanting “Let Him Walk”.

As he proceeded along Wellington to University Avenue, the only people who seemed to be able to get close to Charlie were the pushy camera crews. A few openings for fans to banter back and forth with Charlie came as he was walking up University towards Queen Street, I myself was able to slip a few words into Charlie and he replied back. All along the route police with bicycles were forcing people to stay on the sidewalk, which caused more congestion on the small sidewalks of Toronto. I would have hated to be someone coming in the opposite direction.

When the walk finally ended at Massey Hall, Charlie climbed the fire escape of the famous Toronto landmark and tried to talk to those who had gathered. Since he did not have a sound system or a microphone, Charlie had to rely on the crowd quieting down so they could hear him. In good Canadian manor, the crowd did stop their shouts and chants to let Charlie speak. I was able to shoot video of both his speech in front of the Ritz Carlton and at Massey Hall after the walk.

    Charlie on Hood of SUV

Charlie on Fire Escape of Massey Hall

It was an epic walk that my girlfriend said was more exciting than the tourist bus fire she witnessed across the road from my office space Toronto at the Toronto Star Building, where she too now works.

Someone Dressed as Rose from Two and a Half Men

Rose from Two and a Half Men

Saturday night was also all about Charlie Sheen, as a friend had a Charlie Sheen party. He re-arranged his photo studio to feel like a hotel room where Charlie would entertain. People were encouraged to dress as their favorite “Two and a Half Men” characters. He even hid a watch and invited everyone to search for it so that they could win a pair of tickets to an even he is holding in May.  The party was a great success and everyone left happy they had attended.

Sunday morning my girlfriend and I decided to go for brunch. I was still quite tired, so I just put back on the Charlie Sheen inspired bowling shirt that I had worn Saturday night. When we sat down at the local Golden Griddle and I took my jacket off, the hostess made a joke that I looked like Charlie… only thing is, I am shaved bald and Charlie has a full head of hair.

Tonight we are going to a dinner party that has nothing to do with Charlie Sheen, but it is an inspired theme, The Anglo-Saxon goddess Eostre is really pure invention, a story told by “scholars” to explain the origins of Easter.

With so much going on this weekend, I am thinking that I will want to sleep in on Monday and not go into my downtown Toronto office space. This is an easy decision to make because I know that I can call the receptionist at my executive suites Toronto in the morning and have her forward my calls to my cell phone instead of my Toronto executive offices.

  • I was not able to get tickets to either of the sold out shows with Charlie Sheen and Russel Peters. I did read some good reviews of Charlie Sheen’s Toronto show and some not so good reviews from the media, but was more interested in the reviews of people who attended. I finally found some reviews from attendees, they too were mixed. Some people wanted to see the show and be there when he bombed, they were mildly disappointed that it did not end in a total fiasco. Other people went to see how Russel Peters could help the show and they were very impressed. Then there were people who went just because it was Charlie Sheen on stage and were waiting for his controversial antics, they were ecstatic when Charlie admitted the first celebrity he “Banged” was his Ferris Bueller’s Day Off co-star Jennifer Grey. Whether Charlie bombs or is on his game, he and his fans seem to be #winning.

Business people looking for downtown Toronto office space or a Toronto virtual office can be winning if they do their homework. If you are looking for a Toronto office space, you can read office space Toronto reviews. If you are looking for a virtual office solution, you can look up virtual office reviews and find out what Toronto virtual office solution works for you.

  • Over the past few weeks we have had some good weather days, only to be followed by days where winter resurfaces. As I was walking from an appointment on Front Street back to my downtown Toronto office space, I noticed the dangerous evidence of fluctuating temperatures on the ceiling of the railway underpass on Yonge Street. With the warming thaw, water seeps through the expansion gaps of the underpass. Then when it gets cold again, the water forms icicles that dangle from the ceiling. People have to quickly walk under them in case one of them breaks off from the underpass ceiling.

I am not one to complain about the coming of spring, I embrace it.  Spring is one of my favorite seasons. On warm spring days, I can slip out of my Toronto office space at 1 Yonge Street, and take a walk along the harbourfront for lunch. Telsec’s executive suites Toronto are also a quick walk to the pubs with patios on the Esplanade where I went on Wednesday.

When I got home Wednesday evening, I noticed a pool of water under the couch I have in my bedroom. When I moved the couch, all of the tile had buckled and the radiator was leaking. I called the building superintendent who quickly assessed the situation and called the heating and plumbing company. The company said that they could not get someone to my place until 8:30 AM Thursday. I had a telephone meeting scheduled for Thursday morning at my Toronto office space and then my girlfriend wanted to take me out for my birthday lunch, what was I going to do? I decided to ask my girlfriend if we could do dinner instead of lunch. I then contacted the receptionist at my downtown Toronto office space and instructed her to forward my calls to my cell phone after answering them. This way the client I was having the telephone meeting with would believe I was in the office space Toronto that he had previously met me in.

The plumbing problem was repaired by 2pm, but the people that fix the drywall and floor will not be able to come in until Monday or Tuesday when everything is completely dry. So on Friday I went into my office for rent Toronto as usual, with the first stop being the kitchen to get a cup of coffee. As I was telling a fellow Toronto office space client about my water damage and that I would have to work from home while the repairs were being done, another office space Toronto client mentioned that their basement had just been flooded too.  It took them 4 days to dry the basement out, before restoration could begin. Instead of taking time away from the office, they set up a webcam to monitor how the work was progressing. Since they had a high speed Internet connection at home and super high speed Internet at their office space downtown Toronto, they could keep the connection to the web cam without losing speed at the office. While this is a great idea that would be easy to set up, it was a bit of overkill.

Luckily my nephew was working evening shifts and would be able to come over to my place during the day and monitor the progress without me having to set up a high tech solution.

  • With the weather we have been experiencing over the past few days, I am beginning to believe that we cannot put our trust in groundhogs. This year neither Wiarton Willie nor his American cousin Punxsutawney Phil saw their shadows this year, meaning that spring weather was to come sooner.

According to legend of Groundhog Day, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from its burrow on February 2nd and does not see it’s Shadow, than we are in for an early spring. If the groundhog sees its shadow it will retreat back into its burrow, and the winter weather will continue for six more weeks.

For the past few years I have used the Toronto International Bicycle Show as my barometer to the fact that spring is right around the corner. It is not the size of the crowds that I use to measure how close spring is (the Bicycle Show always gets great crowds), but instead I count the number of people who arrive on their bikes and park them out front of the Better Living Centre at Exhibition Place. If the bike racks are full, spring is only days away. If they are not too full, then spring is a few more weeks away.

The Toronto International Bicycle Show’s Toronto executive offices are located just down the hall from my Toronto office space. I have often seen the show manager Carl booking a boardroom in the weeks that lead up to the bike show. On Friday, I saw Carl in the kitchen of my office space Toronto getting a coffee and we had a short chat. As we were talking, he offered me a few complimentary passes to attend the show. I was thankful and told him that I would take some photos for him and would be happy to send him copies.

The greatest part of having my downtown Toronto office space at Telsec has been the networking opportunities that have come my way when meeting other office space clients.

  • Every year millions of people around the world look forward to the Super Bowl, but not everyone is interested in the game. There are millions of people who want to watch the big game just to see the epic Television commercials that will only be aired during the Super Bowl.

In 1973 (Super Bowl VII), the first ever super-high-profile Super Bowl ad was aired. The ad featured the sexy Farrah Fawcett spreading Noxzema cream on Joe Namath’s face. The next most talked about Super Bowl commercial came in 1980, Mean Joe Green tossed his game-worn jersey to a young boy after the boy gave him his Coca-Cola. Then in 1984, Apple used a George Orwell’s “1984″ inspired commercial to introduce “The Mac Computer” and thus starting the trend of creating epic commercials for the most watched annual event.

The problem for me and millions of Canadians is that we do not get to see them. Unless you are watching an American TV station via antenna or satellite, Canadian commercials are substituted by the network who hold the Canadian rights to air the game. Over the past years, these epic ads find their way onto the Internet a few days after the big game. A few years ago, I found a site that was uploading the commercials minutes after the commercial aired on TV.

Fast forward to 2011 (Super Bowl XLV) This year, I cannot find that site. There seems to be hundreds of web sites claiming they have the 2011 commercials, but most of the ads they feature are the ones that were released in advance by the advertiser. Most of the sites were set up to lure people onto the site and gain revenue themselves from online advertising, some did not even have links to any Super Bowl commercials. It took a while, but finally the commercials started getting put up on the Internet.

Some will ask me why I put so much effort into finding these commercials tonight, my answer is three words – Water Cooler Chat. I know that when I get into my downtown Toronto office space, everyone will be talking about the Super Bowl and this year’s epic commercials. I do not want to be the only one at my office space that has not seen them. As I am writing this, I wonder what the Toronto virtual office clients do when they want morning coffee chat. Maybe I should convince the staff at my Toronto office space to create a virtual coffee chat room for the clients in their virtual office locations.

By the way, does anyone know the score on the game? Go Team Go!

  • I had lunch today with a commercial real estate broker that I attended high school with. She told me that the change in the economy has changed the way that businesses look at office space in Toronto. In past economic downturns, growing businesses would look for deals on class A properties to enhance their look and image, but todays up and coming businesses are passing on unserviced office space in favor of Toronto executive offices. They want a space with office services Toronto that does not require them to have to worry about leasing office equipment or buying office furniture.

Businesses do not want to sign long term office space agreements that lock them in for several years. Businesses want the flexibility to grow and change their workforce size without having to break leases. Todays businesses do their homework and do their office search Toronto research. They look up office space Toronto and find business office centres like Telsec.

The advantage of a business office centre is that that they offer serviced offices Toronto with complete office solutions for businesses of all sizes and structures. Entrepreneurial businesses to multi national companies can utilize business centers for short or long term tenancy. Businesses use Telsec’s office spaces in Toronto for a downtown Toronto office space presence without the cost of a conventional downtown office space.

For many it is the option of having Toronto meeting rooms at their disposal in a core location that attracts them, for others it is the many options and services that a Toronto business office centre offers. Having a team of professional office staff available to assist them for various secretarial and administrative duties without having to hire them as staff, works well for most businesses who are just starting out or exploring new markets. Often when a company is relocating and is in need of Toronto office space that is ready to go, they choose Telsec.

  • While there was snow on the ground, we sorta had a white Christmas. A true white Christmas would have been if snow had fallen Christmas eve. I find it ironic that some US states that are south of us experienced snowfall that crippled their roads. Take North Carolina and other parts of the South, where a rare white Christmas came with reports of dozens of car crashes. The US Northeast is expected to get the brunt of the storm. Forecasters have already issued a blizzard warning for New York City. It was not until I saw a TV in a store showing images of the US snow storm that I heard of any extreme weather.

As I drove downtown to do some Boxing Day shopping, I noticed the skies were blue and there was very little cloud covering. Not being able to find any parking near the Eaton Centre, I decided drive down to my office space Toronto to park my car and in my reserved indoor parking spot and walk up to the Eaton Centre for some Boxing Day shopping.

When I got to Toronto’s Eaton Centre, I found that some shoppers descended on the mall starting at 8 a.m., some travelling more than an hour to be there when the mall opened.  This might explain the parking dilemma that I had previously encountered. I fought through the crowds and came up empty on finding what I wanted, but I did get to admire the TVs that even at Boxing Day prices, I still could not justify spending $1000 on a 50 inch TV.

The images on the TV got me to start thinking. With this storm making its way up the Atlantic coast, it will not be long before the weather changes here. I have already planned how I can get down to my downtown Toronto office space in the event of a major snow storm here. Right outside my front door is a bus stop, the bus that travels my route takes me directly to the subway. Once on the Toronto Transit, I can be delivered right in front of the Toronto Star Building and into my Toronto office space. Alternatively, I can work remotely from home and my clients will think I am in the office. I just need to call my receptionist and arrange to have my calls routed to my home after she greets my clients. That is another benefit of having office services Toronto at Telsec.

Now that I have had a small break from Boxing Day shopping downtown, I am heading back out to the suburbs to do some additional sale shopping in the big box stores, hoping that some of the good deals are still to be had.
