As a provider of office space and virtual office services to our clients, we also strive to provide advice and assistance to help them be more successful small businesses. Back in February, we published a blog called “Tax Tips for Canadian Small Businesses and Entrepreneurs“. Since then, we have been asked to provide more links from our clients and followers, even some for USA tax tips. We did the search so that you did not have to. We also wanted to provide the best links, so you did not have to go through search results that do not apply to you.

While most people see the CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) and The IRS (Internal Revenue Service) as the enemy, they are quite shocked to find out that both agencies provide help for small businesses with their taxes.

Taxtips.ca has both a Canadian site and a USTaxTips.net that provide important links for small business tax help.

Accounting software company Intuit offers some tax tips for small business on its website too.

Small Business Canada (part of the About.com network) has various small business articles, but in particular the one called “6 Year End Small Business Tax Tips” caught our eye. They also had another article that shows you strategies you can use throughout the year called “8 Small Business Tax Strategies to Reduce Income Tax in Canada“.

CanDoFinance offers a great deal of links to articles that will help you with your small business tax strategy and get the help that specifically suits your small business needs.

Looking for some tax loopholes? Madan Chartered Accountants has some tax advice that you may not know about (or were afraid to ask about).

RBC and other banks can often be a source of tax help on how to take the stress out of your taxes with articles like “RBC helping small business owners prepare for tax time.”

Are you a moonlighter or freelancer? The Financial post has an article “16 Tax Tips for Moonlighters and Freelancer.”

Even home improvement chain Lowes offers some tax tips to self-employed contractor called “Tax Tips For Small Business Owners“.

If your small business is run out of your home, let online accounting company Freshbooks help you with “10 tax tips for owners of a home based business“.

SmallBusinessTrends.com is a great website for various aspects to helping your small business keep up, but they also had a great article “10 Small Business Tax Deductions You Should’t Ignore” that is a good read.

Breakout Capital may be a funding company, but they have some tax tips that help take the “overwhelming” factor out of small business taxes. They have “Important Small Business Tax Tips” that was recently published.

The Hartford Courant has some interesting tax advice that is not so much specific tax tips, but offers some great insight and advice for dealing with taxes.

TurboTax by Intuit software has some “little Known Tax Tips For Small Business Owners”  that are worth a read (they specialize in accounting and taxes).

As a self-employer or founder of a small business, it can be difficult to navigate the waters of the IRS annual exam (i.e. taxes). LessAccounting.com has “small business tax tips… what you can and can not deduct” that will give you an idea of how NOT to get into trouble with the IRS.

Small Business Taxes & Management (smbiz.com) has been providing tax and management guidance to small and medium-sized businesses and their owners since 1980. They update their page daily (Monday through Friday) with great links, tips and articles.

One last piece of advice – if you are searching for specific tax tips on a search engine, go beyond the first page. Sometimes the answers you are looking for are on a subsequent page. Consider using quotation marks to find specific information.
